Blood clots may pose a concern for obese individuals
losing weight with surgery. I’m Erin White and this is a dailyRx Minute. While bariatric
surgery can bring about extraordinary weight loss, it also carries some health risks. One
risk is blood clots. A new study suggests that medications commonly given to bariatric
surgery patients do a better job of preventing clots than filters inserted into the abdomen
before the operation. Ask your doctor about the risks and benefits of bariatric surgery.
