I Lost 100 Pounds! HAIR LOSS after Gastric Bypass Surgery!

Hi, I’m Patti Dunn welcome to my channel Hi, I’m Patti welcome back so I thought today we’d talk about hair loss after weight loss surgery It’s really common to for your hair to become thin. Actually, a lot of people even women, have hair loss right up here you might see right through your hair because it’s incredibly incredibly thin. My area has actually been back here in my crown area. I’m not going to turn around because you know, it’s very thin back here. Typically, people say that they’re their thinning begins around 3 months and it maybe ends around 6 months. I would say that mine was a little later than that I have pictures. I’ll post a picture. I’ll add a picture to this video showing my hair before and after. Even right now it’s still incredibly thin on the bottom. I’ve been having it trimmed regularly trying to cut off the scraggly ends because it’s so thin. Another thing, you might have happen is your fingernails might become very brittle and raggedy actually. So, one one thing that has been recommended and I want to say this first off. I’m not a doctor. I’m not a medical professional. This is just my personal experience. One thing that’s been recommended is biotin. You can buy it over the counter. Typically, the typical dose is 10,000 micrograms (not milligrams) micrograms a day and I started taking it about a week and a half ago. So I don’t know yet if it’s going to work but, hopefully, it will. My hair has been, I already have very fine hair and then adding this to it, my hair has been, it’s been quite a challenge. My hair normally is a little bit longer, but because of the thinning I’ve been keeping it cut regularly and having kind of a blunt end to kind of maybe make it not so obvious except on the crown and since it’s warm weather, everybody can’t wear a hat so I have to pretty much just comb my hair where it’s not obvious. So, if you already have thin hair or you know, it’s it’s a period of time where you’ll have to just sort of, it’s one of those things where, okay, well, yes, it’s not it’s not fun to have your hair get thin during, you know, ever, especially if you’re a woman. But it’s a trade-off, you know, do you want to stay obese the rest of your life? I didn’t want to stay morbidly obese the rest of my life and I should say I’ve lost 117 pounds. I’ve gone from a size 22 to 24 to a size, I’m currently wearing a size 10, but they’re a little bit loose not quite to an 8 yet. So, I’ve gone from 250 which was my highest weight and when I weighed the other day, I weighed 135. So, I’m real happy with my weight and I hope I don’t lose any more. I’m happy right where I am. But, during the journey you have an issue of first you having, you know liquid food and then you’re having full liquids and you’re having pureed foods and your hair’s going to get thin. Trying to go out go out with friends or at go out with family and eat you really After a few weeks, you’ll be able to eat what they’re eating, of course in much smaller quantities. You know definitely Don’t continue eating after you’re already full but Anyway, back to the hair the hair issue. It’s an issue for a lot of people and a lot of people’s hair becomes thinner than mine did. A lot thinner, where you can actually see through the top, you can see through the sides And for me it’s mostly the crown But it’s just one of these things where you should know ahead of time that it’s a very good chance that you will, but you will have issues with this. Just keep keep your eye on the prize The prize is to be a healthy weight To be able to sit on the floor with your kids to be able to bend over and tie your shoes. I remember having difficulty doing, putting on you know, my socks You know getting out of a car, I mean there’s so just look at the prize, you know, look at the result, you’ll get through all this and you know, that it’s going to be a bit bumpy along the way. You know, in the end, hopefully, you’ll get through this and you’ll be a healthy weight you’ll be so glad you did this. And so, if you have any questions about anything I’ve discussed in any of my videos, I hope you’ll put a comment below. Ask a question. I’ll do the best I can to answer it and I hope you’ll like and subscribe. See you next time
