hello my name is Toni. and I’m 41 yr old. and this is my story with the weight loss. I lost 23kg with 12-month gastric balloon. nothing at all I found it very uncomfortable getting it in, that was probably the worst thing was getting it inside down your throat and I really didn’t like it um but I wasn’t nauseous so much came home rested planned to drink a little bit of soup I have made with a tablespoon just a little bit during the whole day so I didn’t have to where I didn’t get anything and then got all hungry but a little bit all the time getting some rest on day five I was up in the gym working out so that was probably because I read people saying I slept through the whole thing. But for me for the past 12 months have been the worst getting was getting it and out but probably is a mental thing a bit nervous because I what would I be able to do but I try to to feel what is my body telling me that I I can do so I I walked on the treadmill for for a while and then I did a few strength exercises my arms and legs and that was that was great so on not much not anything for the stomach that I gave that a bit I did the first time very liquid like you’re supposed to do with a lot of soon I made tomato soup with the red winces in him to get enough protein and then I like to drink some drinking yogurts with extra protein so I did that for a few days and then I think around six seven days I started on some scrambled eggs just a little bit and then it just went from there of course I felt a little bit tired because you don’t get as much food as you usually would but it wasn’t overwhelming it wasn’t I was tired and just couldn’t get out of bed or I think after a few days I felt okay no not not to Tallulah now I had this but I have done calorie counting before so I have a pretty good idea of how much I am I went from a big dining plate to a lunch plate and chose not to fill it up and so it did that for for a while and that functions so I’ve kept on doing that and I’m still gonna do that I have been drinking a lot of yogurt with protein I like it because it’s easy breakfast and I have not been added used to eating breakfast so so now I’m kind of addicted to getting my yogurt in the morning I have been angling some bread with some meat on it otherwise I think I’ve been eating pretty normal but to solid meat like a roast an especially beef can be a problem not that you get sick from it but it takes a longer time to get through and you will get the nasty burps the day after because it will be lying there so it’s a choice I have made a few times I have been eating beef a lot of chicken in different varieties chicken breast with pesto or bacon in the oven or chicken in a salad so chicken meatballs because the Sunday the minced meat is really good actually because it goes through much easier and it’s not so heavy if I may may be true not too big maybe three about really hungry but sit eat for a long time be really concentrated on chewing and take it easy making meals last a little bit longer I drink while I’m eating I and I’ve always done that I just can’t not drink probably also why I didn’t eat that much because there is a limit on how much you can for dinner water I don’t like milk and I limit that I am have an addiction to diet coke so I do drink diet coke but if you have something on the top of your pillow that is bothering you drinking some coke actually helps I usually don’t drink I have had two weddings that I have attended and I have had a couple of glasses of wine I noticed that you get intoxicated really really fast and I don’t know if that’s the balloon or something or it’s just that I hardly ever drink but it would also show on the wait for the next two weeks two weeks would usually what it cost to have alcohol on the week and that is a calculated thing for me and say okay I’ll accept no way you lost for two weeks I probably even gained some weight I did it after a month actually I had a feeling that I would be able to eat too much I didn’t really feel the full effect so I talked to Heidi man and he said we could put in a little bit more and after that there was no problem my starting size was 500 and I think that was good and maybe that’s also because I haven’t been sick so it what hasn’t been too much from the beginning and then in the stomach has gotten used to it and after a month I could feel that I was scared that it would go the wrong way that I would overeat still overeating was my main problem I would also I will always eat two portions for dinner but they were the larger portions so I would like to see I need to do something about that so we decided to try and I got think a hundred and fifty milliliters more and after that it wasn’t really a problem I had a pretty significant and constant weight loss and also because I guess I was feeling full for around four to five months the weight was really drastically going down it went fast and then it slowed I haven’t had a lot of weight loss for the last three months I think it has been okay I kept on doing what I have done all the time so it’s more of a habit and I think my whole procedure has been wanting to change bad habits I eat a lot I have done that ever since I was 20 so it is 20 years of bad eating habits and you don’t change that like that so I actually think it’s okay that you only do I have only lost a lot of weight further as a 2/3 of the period I have had the balloon and the last third has been more maintenance and I kind of like that actually gives me hope that I can keep on doing this I think I have had more positive outcome and a more positive procedure than a lot of people that are read about on Facebook I was a thing Facebook has a tendency to show people right when there’s something they’re not happy about or when they are having problems and and you don’t hear that much about all the good story all right becomes a competition about how much weight can you lose and I know that if you’re a hundred and twenty kilos you would definitely lose much more weight much faster than if you’re only 85 kilos so you can’t compare each other but people who doesn’t know a lot about this will do that I have been really positive I haven’t had any issues and I can see a lot of people that have had issues and I think they sometimes jump so this conclusion because this has to work I am at my wit’s end no idea how to get on but mentally I’m not quite sure that they’re always ready to do the hard work because it is hard work I think that during these 12 months has been a training for my mind my entire mindset around food had a helping hand in changing so how do I cook my food how many calories do I get I don’t count my calories the way all my food but I had a pretty good sense of how much calories am i eating during a day and I have changed a lot of bad habits with the snacking and with the overeating especially overeating has not been possible so I have also worked a lot about what is it that makes me want to eat more when is it this food craving is triggered and trying to think about what can I do about that and how can I help this I also did consider the gastric sleeve my older brother has a gastric bypass and so has his wife and they lost a lot of weight and four years later they’re just as large and now they can’t do anything because it was the ultimate but they only got the surgery they got the surgery they lost weight because you do that after that surgery but there hasn’t been any mental process for them during the way it was just the fix and then now it’s back to overeating I have had before I lost weight a lot of joint pains back aches and that is it’s not gone but it’s much less I’m just able to do much more it’s not a problem to run for the bus or sit around and play with my nieces or the energy level gone off but also during winters and have had a tendency to some winter depression not massively but you know mood drops and this winter it really hasn’t been that bad because have been more active I have been out I like to run outside so get more vitamin D from the Sun the day before I came here to have the balloon I took some pictures in my underwear and then I have done every month taking new pictures put them in a collage so I could compare because it can be really really hard to see that you are losing weight and and that has helped me looking at those pictures and I kind of would advise everyone to take some of those pictures because you can’t always see yourself it’s a fun thing going out buying clothes for a year ago if I had to buy clothes I was in tears I couldn’t fit into anything everything looked bad felt horrible it was the worst thing ever to go buy clothes and now it’s like okay so I don’t even need to go look for the biggest size or the second biggest size I mean I’m a medium and it kind of fits and it feels good makes me feel more comfortable I’m also more confident when I go to work I feel I have a much more balanced I wanted this to work and I have been thinking a lot about this shouldn’t be wasted and I think there’s a lot of things about when you eat it’s not just about food and you’re hungry and you can’t stop there’s a reason why you do this and if you don’t work with all the emotions about eating you won’t get anywhere because if I hadn’t figured out what some of my triggers are like I’m a very emotional leader so I need to do something else like I have a really bad day and something is oh it’s so I feel bad for myself going out and buying a ton of chocolate is not the answer but just knowing that that is something that triggers it or if I have a craving for something I’ll start asking myself why do I have this craving what is it is it because it just wants to because it’s a nice day for it because something is following me because I had this fight at work or my husband was an idiot or the kids are impossible why what is it that triggers me and I think I needed to to do some research with myself to figure out what is it and I actually think that not going to a long therapist sessions during a lot of time but but do a little bit of searching within yourself you
