Hi, I’m Michelle Phelan, Nutritionist at Blossom
Bariatrics. Today we’re going to discuss a few very helpful tips for bariatric patients.
One of the main questions I get from patients who have had bariatric surgery is “How much
do I put on my plate?” Well, it’s not really how much, but what you put on your plate. So I
don’t typically recommend our patients measure things. Don’t go buy cups of this and quarter
cups of this. Go buy what you put on your plate. Start with protein first and that should
look like two, maybe two and a half ounces of meat. That could be three, maybe four bites
of perhaps chicken breast, or fish and then maybe, oh I don’t know, it could be a half
cup or more of vegetables, maybe a cup of vegetables. But here’s the thing to remember.
Try getting in at least two to three bites of vegetables after your protein. So the most
important thing is feel and listen to the full signals that your new stomach, or your
new pouch gives you. Thanks for watching. If you would like more tips and information,
