Bariatric Surgery 4 of 4

Although bariatric surgery assists with weight loss It does nothing to address the extra skin which hangs around following weight loss. This has to be corrected through the surgical removal of excess skin. There are surgical procedures that address this. One is an abdominoplasty, or a tummy tuck which is remodeling of the belly following weight loss. Another is a mastoplexy which is also called a breast lift. There are also procedures such as lateral tension abdominoplasties and lower body lifts to correct excess skin in the hips and legs. However because these surgeries are considered to be cosmetic, most insurances, and medicare will not pay for these
operations even if the client has undergone bariatric surgery and lost weight
