Bariatric Success: Donnie

Bariatric Success: Donnie

(lighthearted music) – I had surgery, I believe
it was in September. And so I’m about nine months out. My surgery was, I didn’t
qualify for insurance on it, so I had to pay for it myself, but I feel that was
really good thing for me because I had no health issues. And so I was 320 pounds,
at the time of surgery, but I was just, couldn’t
move, I couldn’t tie my shoes, I had other problems, you
know, but no health problems. So I elected to do the surgery and I’ve lost 90 pounds
so far in nine months. I mean, it’s given me my life back. I went out walkin’ with my wife and I couldn’t believe
how good I could do. So one day I took the dog out and I was about to run two miles, which I hadn’t done for
over five or six years. I have a very stressful career and this surgery really
helped me get back on track. I used to ride a mountain
bike for 30 miles a day. I guess it’s been 10 years ago. And now I can do stuff like that again. I can tie, I mean, it’s
amazing when you can say, I can tie my own shoes. But I can tie my own shoes, I mean, I can do anything with my feet. I know my feet again. And I recommend it, highly, I mean, it’s given me my life back. It’s been fantastic. The healing after two months, you wouldn’t even know,
besides the weight loss, that you had the surgery. I highly recommend it. I’m trying to get my brother to do it. My knees feels so much better. My feet feel so much,
everything, feels so much better. My appearance, it has, I mean, people just, when they see
me they just can not believe I’m the same person, you know? And I think it’ll give me
five to 10 more years of life. (lighthearted music)
